Increase Sales With Merchandising Tips
The design of your site can have a lot to do with how well your products sell. There are a few simple yet very effective techniques you can use to adjust your site to generate better sales. You can easily incorporate these yourself, or you can call on our Design Services group for help. More information on Homestead Design Services is available at http://www.homestead.com/~site/hslo/designservices/howitworks.ffhtml.
If you’d like to try to optimize your site yourself, give these ideas a try:
1. Highlight Your Best-Selling Products
It’s important to get your customers’ attention right away. A great way to do that is to highlight your hottest products; Homestead has several “Featured Product” Home Page layouts ready to go in the Design Wizard.
2. Keep It Simple
Page layouts should be uncluttered and appealing with a heavy emphasis on product. Unnecessary extras on your pages are often annoying to shoppers, especially those on dial-up connections.
3. Create Customer Service and Promotional Pages
Creating additional pages rich with relevant product keywords will do more than keep your customers interested – they’ll help increase your ranking in search results.
You can start by making sure you use all of the basic pages in your package, including the ‘About Us’, ‘Store Policies’, and ‘Customer Service’ pages. You can easily create these basic pages with StoreFront design templates; highlight what makes your store unique. To create additional content pages, like buying advice, customer testimonials or promotional pages, see pages 39 and 62 in the Designer’s Reference.
4. Increase Sales With Cross-Selling
StoreFront Professional subscribers and above will want to take advantage of the powerful cross-selling tools available with their subscription level. Increase your average order size by linking related and similar products to cross-sell and upsell other items.
